FIS Council Milan Jirasek closed the FIS Junior SKi World Championships 2007

FIS Council Milan Jirasek closed the Championships with a sentence, which means a big honour to the organizing committees of Altenmarkt/Zauchensee and Flachau:
"This was the best FIS Junior World Championships we ever had!"

Austria most successful nation of this championships 2007!

Congratulations to the austrian skiteam!

Austria was not only the most successful nation in the medal-ranking, they also won the "Marc Hodler Trophy 2007"! 2nd was Slovenia, 2rd Switzerland!

Der Team Captain of the Austrian Team, Arno Staudacher was taking over the Trophy from FIS-General Secretary Sarah Lewis!

The most successful competitiors of this championships!

On the women´s side the Austrian Nicole Schmidhofer was the most successful racer with 2 gold, 1 siver and 1 bronze-medals! Ilka Stuhec from Slovenia won 2 gold medals and Tina Weirather from Liechtenstein 1 gold and 2 silver medals!

On the men´s side the swiss Beat Feuz was the undisputable No. 1 at this championships! He won 3 gold and 1 bronze medal! 1 gold and 1 silver medal takes the Austrian Marcel Hirscher with him and 1 silver and 2 bronze the Austrian Bernhard Graf!

We congratulate all the racers and medal-winners for their fabulous performances and wish them all the best for the future!

Last day of the World Junior Championschips 2007

On the last day of the World Junior Championships 2007 there were the Super-G men in Zauchensee and the women´s Slalom in Flachau.

Men´s Slalom on saturday, 10.3.2007

The men´s slalom in Flachau on saturday, 10.3.2007 could be held as planed and ended with the victory of the slowenien Matic Skube!
The Giant Slalom World Champion Marcel Hirscher from Salzburg took the silver medal! He was  0,11 sec. behind and went on the 2nd place!
Bronze won the Downhill Junioren Champion Beat Feuz from Switzerland!

Super-G Ladies was successfully organized in Zauchensee:

2. Weirather Tina (LIE)
3. Brem Eva-Maria (AUT)

Also in Flachau the men´s GS was a perfectly prepared race and ended with the first Gold medal for Salzburg!

Giant Slalom Ladies

today there was the Giant Slalom Ladies in Flachau as planned.

SG Men was cancelled due the bad weather and will be on Sunday, 11th of march in Zauchensee.

Downhill race ladies!

Gold for Tina Weirather (LIE)

The race started on time at 9.00 am and the conditions have been very good.

1st downhill race finished!

The downhill-race of the men and the downhill training of ladies took place today in Zauchensee.

Tomorrow there will be a downhill-race of ladies.

Entries from racers of 40 Nations

On Sunday, 25th of February was the end of the entries for the FIS Junior Ski World Championships in Zauchensee and Flachau. We got entries from 40 Nations, some names sound familiar from the worldcup races!

Altenmarkt/Zauchensee and Flachau as host organizer of  FIS World Championships! In Zauchensee World Championships already took place, indeed not of the Alpines, but of the Freestylers in 1993!

From 3rd to 11th of march 2007 the best junior skiers from over 40 Nations will fight for the medails on the worldcup approved slopes in Altenmarkt/Zauchensee and Flachau!

We are looking forward to welcome the best juniors in our region!
